ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports today that the Panthers had an offer on the table for Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford which included the 8th overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft along with quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
It’s no secret that the Panthers have been on the lookout to upgrade the QB spot after Bridgewater went 4-11 as the Panthers starter in 15 games in 2020, throwing for 3733 yards with 15 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
For now Bridgewater remains the current starter for the Cats, and Saturday evening at the NFL Honors one Panther who spoke highly of the QB was running back Christian McCaffrey.
“When we signed Teddy this offseason, I knew we were getting a great player. I didn’t know we were getting such a great teammate,” McCaffrey said.
“He had a long road to get here, but Teddy always finds his blessings. And that positive spirit is contagious.”
The package that ended up landing Stafford from Detroit out to Los Angeles included a third-round pick this year, two future first-round picks and quarterback Jared Goff.
