Auburn DT Derrick Brown is now a member of the Panthers, as Thursday the team took the big man to start the new regime of new coach Matt Rhule.
David Newton of ESPN talks about why with the 7th pick the Cats went the route of taking Brown:
Carolina has only two defensive tackles on its roster in Kawann Short and Woodrow Hamilton, so no position has a bigger need. Put Brown and his run-stopping ability next to Pro Bowler Short and his pass-rushing ability, and the middle of the defense will be as stout as any in the NFL. Opponents literally ran away from Brown’s side at Auburn.
CBS Sports gave the pick an A+ – Brown being an impact player day one for the new look Cats in 2020.
