Panthers TE Greg Olsen Does Individual Drills in Practice

Panthers tight end Greg Olsen participated in individual drills on Thursday and could be trending towards a return to the playing field earlier than projected according to beat writer Joe Person on Twitter.

Olsen was spotted running routes and working on the sled during the portion of practice open to the media. He could still draw a “DNP” designation on the injury report, but Olsen is clearly trending in the correct direction.

He could return Week 6 against Washington Redskins, which would be a huge boost for quarterback Cam Newton and the rest of the Panthers offense. Olsen suffered a foot injury in Week 1 similar to his Jones fracture in 2017 but the team has kept him on the active roster in hopes he could return.

Look’s like that gamble may be paying off.
