Armanti Edwards – ‘The Silent Assassin’

When told that Edwards had received the nickname ‘The Silent Assassin” from his QB Cam, a big grin stretches from ear to ear on the upcoming WR’s face. Edwards is part of a team where jokes are common. Everyone seems to enjoy the teams bantering. Edwards earned the nickname by “never saying anything in the locker room.” Although now he admits he’s a little more talkative.

Edwards has made a lot of changes off the field and on the field. Ricky Proehl has been a lot of help contributing to Edwards’s success. He helps to remind Edwards to “play fast.” Edwards has heeded the WR coach’s advice and the “Aha moments” began to happen.

Now Edwards feels like he is “a guy that can be counted on this year.” The past couple of years he “…felt like a guy that wasn’t being accountable.”

Edwards continues to “stay motivated” knowing that “sooner or later there’s going to be a break thru.”

In the off-season he “stayed in the weight room.” Edwards said, “Ask any guys in Charlotte.” He “worked out almost everyday—trying to do the little things”

Questions running around in the former QB’s mind, now WR, are: “what did I get myself into?” However, Edwards continues to improve. Fans are the “motivation” for his hard work and success.

Edwards held the third spot as a WR against Chicago, last Friday night.

With Armanti out for a couple of days due to a hamstring injury, it is now time for other guys to step up.

David Gettis, who also suffered from a hamstring injury last year, is one of those guys. Gettis is in “full health” and “ready-to-go.” Gettis has had plenty of time to recover since his debut in 2010 when he had 508 receiving yards. He was able to sit back on the sidelines and learn by watching the games. He’s “excited to be back and playing.” He feels like physically, he is where he was before. He’s “ready to go full throttle.” He still feels fast. He’s making sure he “runs the proper routes,” “makes the proper blocking assignments,” and is “catching the ball.”

Other injuries: FB Michael Zordich placed on IR (knee) out for the season; CB James Dockery (thumb); WR Joe Adams (calf); OT Bruce Campbell (shoulder); G Edmund Kugbila (hamstring).
