Panthers Hire David Gettleman As New GM

The Panthers have their GM in place, as today the team announced they have have Giants senior pro personnel analyst David Gettleman.

A person familiar with the situation says the Panthers also interviewed Tennessee Titans vice president of player personnel Lake Dawson on Wednesday.

The person said the Panthers Tuesday interviewed Giants director of college scouting Marc Ross and Montreal Alouettes general manager Jim Popp for the position. The person spoke to The Associated Press Wednesday on condition of anonymity because the Panthers have not announced who they interviewed for the position.

Gettleman replaces longtime Panthers GM Marty Hurney, who was fired six games into the season.

Carolina finished the season 7-9.

  1. Dan B. says:

As a Browns fan first and foremost, I will say that the Panthers are my NFC team. I have been a fan and wearing Panthers swag since the team was announced. I have some very good friends from the area and that is where my affinity for the Panthers comes from. On that note, I was glad to get Chud as our head coach, but please, please do not hire Shurmur as the Panthers OC! The man is so inflexable. He will try to cram his outdated WCO down Newton’s throat and he will regress. Shurmur will not adapt the offense to the talent as was evident in Cleveland as was his inability to make game time adjustments.
