Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said Monday that veteran corerback Chris Gamble will be placed on injured reserve with an injured shoulder.
Gamble, a nine-year veteran and the franchise’s leader in interceptions, sat out the past two games with the injury.
The move was the first personnel decision not made by general manager Marty Hurney, who was fired Monday morning.
“It was one of the decisions we had to make today,” Rivera said. “Talking to (team trainer) Ryan Vermillion, he’s going to have to have it taken care of. Then we’ll have to find a player to fill his position.”
