Panthers Ink Kicker Justin Medlock to a Three-Year Deal

The Panthers have signed free agent kicker Justin Medlock to a three-year contract.

A 2007 fifth-round pick out of UCLA by the Chiefs, Medlock went 1-for-2 on field goal attempts in his NFL debut before he was released and replaced with veteran Dave Rayner. Medlock went training camp the following season with the St. Louis Rams and has had stints with the Washington Redskins and Detroit Lions.

Medlock has spent much of the last three seasons in the Canadian Football League, spending two seasons with the Toronto Argonauts before he was signed by the Edmonton Eskimos and traded to the Hamilton Tigers Cats. Medlock was 49-of-55 on field goal attempts in 2011, earning an All-Star nod.

Medlock joins a crowded kickers meeting room in Carolina, who signed Olindo Mare to a four-year, $12 million contract after the lockout ended last summer.
