DE/LB Jyles Tucker Inks a One-Year Deal

The Panthers have signed free agent defensive end/linebacker Jyles Tucker to a one-year deal, David Canter, Tucker’s agent, announced on Twitter.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Undrafted out of Wake Forest in 2007, the 6-foot-3, 258-pound Tucker totaled 56 tackles, including 10 quarterback sacks, in 32 games for the San Diego Chargers from 2007-10. Tucker suffered a season-ending pectoral injury in 2010 and the Chargers released him after the lockout.

Tucker played outside linebacker in the Chargers’ 3-4 defense, but could play defensive end in the Panthers’ 4-3 system. Tucker played for Panthers head coach Ron Rivera, who was the Chargers defensive coordinator from 2008-10.
