The Carolina Panthers announced the promotion of rookie guard Bryant Browning to the 53-man roster.
Originally signed by the St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Ohio State, Browning was waived by the Rams in early August and claimed by the Panthers. Browning appeared in four games for the Panthers during the 2011 preseason and has been on the practice squad since Week 1.
The Panthers had an open spot on their 53-man roster after waiving veteran guard Reggie Wells on Wednesday.
Other move: Veteran guard Roger Allen was signed to the team’s practice squad. Allen was recently waived from the New Orleans Saints’ injury reserve list and had a workout with the Rams on Wednesday.
