Panthers In Talks With Derek Anderson

The rumblings started yesterday just before the Panther’s evening training camp practice. According to Pat Yasinskas with ESPN former Arizona Cardinal and Brown’s quarterback Derek Anderson is close to signing with the Carolina Panthers.

Anderson visited with the team today and word is that they are finalizing a deal to bring him on board.

Anderson, a former Oregon State quarterback, spent the 2010 season as the on-again off-again starting QB for the Arizona Cardinals. He threw for 2,065 yards, 7 touchdowns, 10 interceptions and ended the year with a passer rating of 65.9. Anderson was eventually succeed as the Cardinal’s starting QB by rookie Max Hall.

If the Panthers do sign Anderson, it would represent a reunion between new Panthers Offensive Coordinator Rod Chudzinski and Anderson. Chudzinski previous coached him during his time with the Cleveland Browns.
