Panthers Reach Three-Year Deal with DT Ron Edwards

Free agent defensive tackle Ron Edwards has reached a three-year deal with the Panthers. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the deal is worth $8.25 million.

The 32-year-old has split his 10-year career with the Buffalo Bills (2001-05) and Kansas City Chiefs, where Edwards has started 60 of 80 games over the past five seasons, totaling 110 tackles and 8.5 quarterback sacks.

The 6-foot-3, 315-pound run-stuffer adds a veteran presence to a Panthers interior defensive line that includes a pair of 2011 third-round picks in South Florida’s Terrell McClain and Stanford’s Sione Fua, both of whom are expected to see a lot of playing time this season.
