DT Terrell McClain Coming Into the League With a Chip on His Shoulder

Panthers third-round defensive tackle Terrell McClain is entering the NFL with a chip on his shoulder, reports Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer.

“He’s (first overall pick Camp Newton) got a lot of pressure on him. He’s got a chip on his shoulder,” McClain said. “I’m going to have a chip on my shoulder. We’re going to come in and try to help the team as much as we can.

“I think we can deliver.”

A three-year starter at South Florida, the 6-foot-2, 297-pound McClain totaled 88 tackles, 7.5 quarterback sacks, and 17 tackles for a loss. Selected with the 65th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, McClain is projected to be an instant starter on a Panthers’ defensive line that lacks depth.
