Free agent wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett’s DWI case will go to trial in July, Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer reports. The 24-year-old was arrested by Charlotte-Mecklenburg police shortly after 2am on October 6. It was the second time in three years Jarrett was arrested for driving under the influence, and the Panthers waived him later that day.
“He didn’t really have a reason to pull me over, so I guess we’ll wait and see when they reschedule it again,” Jarrett said outside of the courtroom on Thursday. “I’m ready for it to be over with, and I’ll just be happy when it finally is. It looks good for me.” A 2007 second-round pick out of USC, Jarrett (6-4, 220) caught 35 passes for 428 yards and one touchdown during his 32-game career with the Panthers. Jarrett was not signed by another team during the 2010 season and remains a free agent.
