Panthers Won’t Cut Employee Pay During Lockout

Panthers owner Jerry Richardson informed the team’s employees on Wednesday morning that there will be no layoffs, furloughs, or pay cuts during the lockout, Darin Gantt of The Charlotte Observer reports. “He told us the only one who had to worry about losing any money this year was him,” an unidentified employee said of Richardson’s comments to the staff.

In addition to the Panthers, Gantt notes that the New York Giants, Chicago Bears, Miami Dolphins, and Detroit Lions are teams who are not planning staff or pay cuts during the lockout. If the lockout lasts two months, the Giants may implement salary cuts, Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News. The New York Jets, Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers, and a handful of other teams have already taken or announced reduction measures they will take if the lockout extends deep into the off-season.
