Joe Person of the the Charlotte Observer reports that Panthers wide receiver has put his house in Carolina on the market. Responding to the report, Smith says the house has been up for sale since June because he and his wife are thinking about having another child.
There is much skepticism in Carolina about Smith’s explanation as it would seem that the $2.9 million, 10,000 square-foot mansion would suffice even if the Smith family were to grow. Smith indicated that he would discuss his contract situation and his future with the Panthers with his family at the end of the season. Smith is signed through 2012 so his only exit avenues from the Panthers are either a trade or an outright release.
