Panthers Need a Lot of Help to Avoid Down Season in 2010

The Panthers had a rather lackluster showing in their first preseason game at Baltimore on Thursday, and most football betting sites still have them as the third place team in the NFC South as the season now is less than a month away.

Latest odds say that the division clearly belongs to the Saints, with the Falcons pushing them and pushing the rest of the division for a wild card spot.

Many around the league like the run game with DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart capable of being 1,000+ yard backs, but the pass game with Matt Moore and Jimmy Clausen is another story.

As for the defense, they lost DE Julius Peppers and the team lacks the playmakers that could turn a game around. John Fox has to turn the team around, or the recipe could be ripe for a disaster and a season that could end up 5-11 or worse.
