RB Jonathan Stewart Back on the Practice Field

The Panthers have been hopeful that some of their injured players would be able to return, and they got some good news Saturday with the return of running back Jonathan Stewart:

Stewart’s not as prone to cutting up, and said he was relieved to be back on the field. He had surgery Jan. 20 to remove bone spurs that were pressing against his Achilles near the insertion at his left heel, along with some clean-up work on some calcium deposits and nearby bursa sacs. Since then, he’s been watching, until being cleared Saturday morning.

“It’s a relief just being out there, being around what I’m supposed to be doing,” Stewart said. “Making gradual steps toward being on the field is the plan. … I think it was a good step.”
