King says Peppers won’t make $10 mil a year in free agency

Peter King of Sports Illustrated had some interesting thoughts on Julius Peppers, and how much money he might not make in free agency if he’s allowed to walk:

Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers might be in for a rude awakening this offseason as an NFL executive tells Peter King of Sports Illustrated that he would be surprised if Peppers can land a deal that pays him $10 million a year in free agency. The Panthers had previously offered to make Peppers the richest defender in the NFL but he turned down their offer hoping to sign for even more. There are rumors that teams are leery of Peppers due to his high price tag and inconsistent play.
