Pro Football Weekly says that Sherrod Martin seems ready to step in to be the nickel back:
We hear the Panthers are hopeful rookie Sherrod Martin, a second-round pick, will step up to earn the nickel back job in training camp. Martin is being converted from safety to corner and will likely be challenged by third-year veteran C.J. Wilson. Richard Marshall was very effective as the team’s nickel back previously, but he has moved to the starting lineup following the release of Ken Lucas.
