The Panthers will start a three-day mini-camp on Friday, their first since their playoff loss to the Cardinals. One player though that likely won’t be on the practice field is franchised player Julius Peppers.
CarolinaGrowl.com reports that two league sources have told them that the defensive end will be a no-show for the [...]

The new deal for QB Jake Delhomme is rather cap friendly according to the Charlotte Observer. The paper reports that the Panthers saved about $2.5 million under their 2009 salary cap with the deal that will keep Delhomme with the team for and extra five years. Delhomme’s was scheduled to count nearly $11.1 [...]

A bad game in the playoffs in which he threw five picks in a 33-13 loss to the Cardinals was not enough to stop the Panthers from giving quarterback Jake Delhomme a five-year deal on Thursday worth a reported $42.5 million. The deal will keep the 34-year-old QB likely in Carolina for the remainder [...]

The Panthers made some roster moves Monday, signing linebacker James Anderson and safety Nate Salley to restricted free-agent tenders. Both played mostly on special teams last season, although Anderson had two tackles against New Orleans after starter Thomas Davis briefly left the game with a sprained neck. Anderson is in his fourth season [...]

There has not been much movement on the Julius Peppers front lately for the Panthers, and now general manager Marty Hurney says he thinks that the teams franchise player will be back in 2009. This despite Peppers wanting to move elsewhere.
Hurney says he thinks that if a deal can’t be worked out to move [...]

Last season the Panthers’ 4-2 division record included a sweep of the Saints and a split against the Bucs and Falcons. In Week 2 they’ll travel to Atlanta and look to erase the memory of last year’s 45-28 loss in Atlanta in which they allowed four rushing touchdowns from Michael Turner.
It’s probably fair to [...]

The Panthers and Packers made a trade on Monday, as the Pack sent long snapper J.J. Jansen to the Panthers for a conditional 2011 seventh-round draft pick. The move could mean that veteran Jason Klye won’t be back as the Panthers long snapper for the 09 season.
Kyle hasn’t messed up a snap, but reports [...]
