Forget that post about the Panthers working on a contract extension for QB Jake Delhomme. Carolinagrowl.com has a story today that says that no exchanges have taken place between the Panthers and Delhomme, and no deal is in the works. Here’s the story:
The Carolina Panthers may want to re-sign Jake Delhomme, but at this point they’re not close to working out a contract extension with their starting quarterback, according to Delhomme’s agent Rick Smith. While Smith joked Thursday that he talks “four million times a week” with Panthers general manager Marty Hurney, he added that no deal is in the works right now to extend Delhomme’s contract. When asked if contract talks are still in the preliminary stages, Smith said, “We’re not at any stage yet.”
