The Panthers may have to play against the New York Giants without their top run stuffer.
Steve Reed of CarolinaGrowl.com reports that defensive tackle Maake Kemoeatu, the 345-pounder who has started all 14 games this year, is unlikely to play against the Giants because of an ankle injury.
Kemoeatu missed practice Wednesday and was on crutches earlier this week.Either the 294-pound Darwin Walker or the 285-pound Gary Gibson will start in Kemoeatu’s place, meaning the Giants should have a little more room to run.
The winner of the Giants-Panthers game will have home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs.
