The Panthers return to practice today as they get ready for Sunday’s season opener at San Diego. Head coach John Fox told reporters Tuesday that he expects injured wide receiver D.J. Hackett and safety Chris Harris to practice today. Hackett has been hobbled by a toe injury in the preseason. The Panthers need him to play Sunday because Steve Smith begins serving a two-game suspension for punching Ken Lucas during training camp. Harris has been nursing a groin injury.
