The Panthers were dominant in all aspects during Saturday night’s 47-3 preseason rout of Washington at Bank of America Stadium. The Panthers nearly doubled the Redskins in total offense, outgaining Washington 402-208. DeAngelo Williams and rookie Jonathan Stewart both rushed for 100 yards and each had a touchdown run of at least 50 yards. Jake Delhomme had two touchdown passes, and wide receiver Steve Smith had two scores. The Panthers controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, and their defense pressured Washington into three turnovers. Carolina will conclude preseason play Thursday at Pittsburgh, and the starters are not expected to see significant playing time.
