Linebacker Jon Beason will likely miss Saturday night’s preseason opener against Indianapolis.  Beason injured his ankle during Monday’s practice and is listed as day-to-day.  Beason told reporters he would probable play if this were a regular-season game.  Rookie running back Jonathan Stewart may also miss the game as he recovers from a toe injury that he suffered at Oregon.  Coach John Fox says Stewart will be a gameday decision.  Wide receivers Steve Smith and D.J. Hackett missed practice Wednesday morning with minor injuries.  The Panthers practice at 3:10 this afternoon in Spartanburg.
