The Panthers report to Spartanburg for the start of training camp today.  The team will hold their its practice at Wofford Saturday morning.  The Panthers begin the 2008 season with great optimism, despite their 7-and-9 record a year ago.  They battled through numerous injury problems, notably the elbow injury that curtailed quarterback Jake Delhomme’s campaign.  Delhomme has recovered from surgery and threw well at Carolina’s summer workouts.  The Panthers still have to sign both of their first-round picks, as running back Jonathan Stewart and tackle Jeff Otah have not agreed to terms.  Both players are expected to see significant action as rookies.  The Panthers will play their preseason opener August 9th against Indianapolis.
