Jets to Get DT Jenkins from Panthers for 3rd and 5th Round Picks

The Jets and Panthers have wrapped up a deal that will send DT Kris Jenkins to New York for a third and fifth round pick in the upcoming 2008 draft. John Clayton broke the story of the deal, which was rumored to being discussed last evening when it appeared that the three-way deal between the Lions, Jets and Broncos was dead. Jenkins was a second-round pick of the Panthers back in 2001. In seven seasons with the Panthers he has played in 85 games, putting up 216 tackles, 20.5 sacks and one forced fumble. The Jets have been active in trying to beef up their D-line, with rumors of dumping former first round pick Dewayne Robertson and trying to get Shaun Rogers from the Lions. An announcement on the deal is expected later today.
