Report Says Muhammad Close to Coming Back to Carolina

Muhammad

The Panthers may be close to signing former Bears wide out Muhsin Muhammad according to one report.  ProFootballTalk.com states that the deal to bring Muhammad to the Panthers would pay him $1.5 mil per season.  The 34-year-old started his career in Carolina, and played nine years there before moving to the Bears before the 2005 season.  His best year with the Panthers was 2004, when he caught 93 passes for 1405 yards and 16 touchdowns, by far his best numbers of his career.  Last season in Chicago he caught just 40 balls for 570 yards and three scores.  The story says that should he come back to the Panthers he would compete with Dwayne Jarrett for the No. 2 receiver spot across the field from Steve Smith.

  1. TERRI LARSON says:

CAROLINA MADE A BIG MISTAKE BY LETTING HIM GO TO BEGIN WITH. HE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES AND HE AND STEVE SMITH ARE CHEMISTRY, WHICH HAS BEEN LACKING SINCE MOOSE LEFT.
I AM A HUGE PANTHER FAN AND THIS MADE MY DAY TO HOPEFULLY SEE 87 WHERE HE BELONGS!!!

  2. Kevin Moore says:

I echo Terri Larson’s remarks. The Panthers have not been as good a team without Munsin. The strength of his blocking helped open up many rushing yardage holes and his presence as a potent receiver has been sorely missed. I hope that all involved can ink this deal and get Muhsin back into a Panther uniform.

  3. Garland Hudgens says:

He would be a tremendous asset to this team again. Jake came out firing on all cylinders last year. If he recovers from his surgery, then Carolina could be looking at a top ranked offense having Smith, Moose, Williams, and who knows…maybe Crumpler?

  4. Justin H says:

I think he will be a GREAT trainer to Dwayne Jarrett. Jarrett showed in college that he is an excellent player and i think moose can turn him into what he was in college but at an NFL level
