Testaverde to Retire Following Sunday’s Game with Bucs
Posted by Matt Loede on December 29th, 2007 filed in NewsIt’s time. That’s the words from Panthers QB Vinny Testaverde, who says that he will be retiring folling Sunday’s game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. “Obviously at 44 it does get a little bit tougher as the weeks go by,” Vinny told the AP. “I’m glad I’m able to do it on my own terms and walk away from the game not only healthy, but to experience some of the things I’ve been through.” The 44-year-old was out of the league this year till the Panthers ran into QB problems, and then they came calling. He was signed on October 10th, then played after just three practices and won a game in Arizona. “It’s going to be, for me, one of my special moments in the NFL,” Testaverde said. “To come in with three days of preparation and go out and help a team win a football game and contribute, I’m proud of the fact I was able to do that.” This season he has five TD passes and is 94 for 172 passing with 952 yards.
