The Panthers hit the practice field today as they prepare for Sunday’s season finale at Tampa Bay.  The Panthers were knocked out of the NFC playoff chase with Saturday night’s 20-13 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.  That  loss also assured the 6-and-9 Panthers of their first losing season since 2004.  Tampa Bay has already wrapped up the NFC South crown with a 9-and-6 record.  The Buccaneers are assured of being the fourth-seed in the NFC playoffs.  Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers missed Saturday’s game with a sprained knee, while center Justin Hartwig suffered a sprained knee against the Cowboys.  The Panthers placed Hartwig on injured reserve, and rookie Ryan Kalil will start against the Bucs.
