Fox Didn’t Want To Expose Carr To Home Crowd

During his Monday press conference, Panthers coach John Fox was questioned about his decision to designate David Carr as the third quarterback for Sunday’s win over San Francisco.  Fox said he didn’t want to expose Carr to a Panthers home game.  While not using exact language, Fox almost certainly meant that he was trying to spare Carr the wrath of a surly crowd should he enter the game and play poorly.  Carr played the prior week against New Orleans because starting quarterback Vinny Testaverde wasn’t healthy.  Carr was booed heartily by a home crowd that made it known that they wanted to see rookie quarterback Matt Moore.
