Still Searching: Panthers Slammed at Home 31-6

Fox looking for answers

The Panthers offense was once again nowhere to be found Sunday at home against the New Orleans Saints, and the defense could only last a half before folding like a deck of cards.  The home crowd once again walked away unhappy, as the Panthers fell to 4-7 with an ugly 31-6 loss to the Saints.

For the Panthers, they now have already packed their bags for the 2007 season. Their offense was awful Sunday, as they had to start David Carr at QB, and he was awful, going 10-for-22 with 95 yards and two picks. Rookie Matt Moore played a bit in relief of Carr, and was not that much better, going 8-for-14 for 66 yards with a pick. The Panthers amazingly still have yet to win a home game in 2007.

“I know everyone wants to pin it on the quarterback,” Panthers coach John Fox said. “I think it’s fairly evident it’s not just the quarterback. Right now we’re just not a very good football team … and the buck stops here.” Fox had better be careful, as even with all the injuries the team has had, he very well may find himself on the street as the season draws down to the final five games.  The defense played well for the first half, but then allowed three straight scores for the Saints in the second half as they quickly put the game away.

The Panthers will be at home to take on the 49’ers at 1pm in hopes of their first home win of the year.
