Despite Struggles, Panthers Still in Hunt
Posted by Matt Loede on November 14th, 2007 filed in NewsDespite their three-game losing streak, the Panthers are very much alive in the NFC South race. The Panthers are 4-and-5, but that’s good for a second-place tie with New Orleans. Tampa Bay leads the division at 5-and-4. The Panthers offense has sputtered in recent weeks. Carolina has scored a combined total of 27 points during the losing streak, largely due to injuries and inconsistency at the quarterback position. Coach John Fox says he expects both David Carr and Vinny Testaverde to be available for Sunday’s game at Green Bay. But Fox would not say who would be the starter. Carr missed last Sunday’s game with Atlanta while he recovered from a concussion. Testaverde played despite an ailing Achilles tendon. The Panthers released rookie quarterback Drew Olson and re-signed fullback Billy Latsko.
