Testaverde Misses Practice; Carr Seems Likley to Start vs Titans

Quarterback Vinny Testaverde missed practice on Wednesday, and because of that it appears likely that David Carr willCarr get the start Sunday when the Panthers play at Tennessee Sunday.  The 43-year-old Testaverde has a right Achilles injury that he hurt even more Sunday in the teams 31-7 loss to the Colts at home.  Carr wrapped up the game, and threw for 103 yards.  “He was well enough to play last week. There aren’t a lot of players out there that are 100 percent at this stage of the season,” coach John Fox said. “He looked sharp in practice today. He had a good day of preparation both in the classroom and out on the field.”  If Vinny can’t be the backup on Sunday, the team will start with Carr and have rookie Matt Moore standing by if something happens to Carr, who is still not totally 100 percent with a back injury.  “Really the first part of this season has been a little strange for the Panthers and for me,” Carr said. “It’s just been a wild deal as far as the quarterback situation. We just need to settle in and get into a routine of having the same thing week to week to week. That’s going to make our team a lot better.”
