Delhomme Out For Season

Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme will miss the rest of the season with an elbow injury he suffered two weeks ago in Atlanta.  Delhomme will have season-ending surgery next week and is being placed on injured reserve.  Delhomme missed the past two weeks and tried to rehabilitate the injury, but decided on surgery after experiencing discomfort while throwing Monday.  Doctors targeted yesterday as an important day in the process of getting healthy, but Delhomme felt some of the same soreness he had on the day he was injured.  David Carr is set become the team’s full time starter at quarterback, but is dealing with a sore back after being sacked in yesterday’s win at New Orleans.  Carr finished the game after missing only a few plays, but his back is being evaluated and his condition will be updated Wednesday.  The Panthers will likely look to bring in a quarterback to go with Carr and Matt Moore, who completed a 43-yard pass to Keary Colbert Sunday while Carr was out.  Quinton Porter is the only other available quarterback on the Panthers roster and is currently on the practice squad.
