Morgan Has Achilles Tear; Surgery Possible for Delhomme

Panthers linebacker Dan Morgan told reporters Monday that he has a small tear in theMorgan Achilles tendon in his right heel.  Morgan did not play Sunday against Tampa Bay and will likely miss Sunday’s game at New Orleans.  But he says the injury is not season-ending.  Meanwhile, coach John Fox says surgery could be an option for quarterback Jake Delhomme.  Delhomme missed Sunday’s game with Tampa Bay because of an injured right elbow.  Fox told reporters last week that Delhomme would not need surgery, but FOX Sports reported on its pregame show that Delhomme would need surgery at some point.  The reporter said he learned that in a conversation with Fox.  Backup David Carr struggled in his first start with the Panthers.  Carr completed just 19-of-41 passes for a 151 yards, an interception and a touchdown in the final minute of a 20-7 loss to Tampa Bay.  It’s not known if Delhomme will be able to play when the Panthers travel to New Orleans Sunday.  Fox said Monday he remains listed as day-to-day.
