Smith upset after dropping a pass

Tampa Bay shut down the Panthers 20-7 Sunday at Bank of America Stadium.  The Buccaneers stymied the Panthers for much of the afternoon, and only a David Carr to DeAngelo Williams touchdown pass in the final minute prevented the Panthers from being shutout for the first time in five years.  The Panthers slipped to 2-and-2 on the season and 0-and-2 at home.  Since they led Houston 14-0 in their home opener, the Panthers have been outscored 54-7 by their opponents on their home field.  The Bucs got touchdown runs from Jeff Garcia and Earnest Graham and improved to 3-and-1.  Tampa Bay has sole possession of first place in the NFC South.  The Panthers lost for just the second time in the last nine meetings against the Buccaneers.  Carolina will visit New Orleans next Sunday.
