Backup QB Carr Fails to Ignite Offense

Quarterback David Carr struggled mightily in his first start Sunday.  Carr, who was playing for the injured Jake Delhomme, The former number-one overall draft choice completed just 19-of-41 passes for 155 yards, a touchdown and an interception.  Carr connected on a 24-yard score with DeAngelo Williams with 23 seconds remaining for Carolina’s only score.  But the offense was stagnant for much of the afternoon, and the Panthers accumulated only 236 total yards on the day.  Delhomme was sidelined with an elbow injury.  It’s not known if he will be able to play next Sunday at New Orleans.  Kick returner Nick Goings suffered a concussion Sunday.
