tight end Jeff King, center, celebrates with quarterback Jake Delhomme (17) and guard Mike Wahle after catching a touchdown pass

The Panthers improved to 2-and-1 by defeating the Atlanta Falcons 27-20 at the Georgia Dome.  DeShaun Foster ran for 122 yards, and his 10-yard touchdown scamper late in the third quarter gave the Panthers the lead for good.  Foster also had a 3-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Jake Delhomme, who left the game with an elbow injury. Jeff King also had a TD catch for the Panthers.  Carolina bounced back from last week’s 34-21 loss to Houston and improved to 2-and-0 on the road.  Joey Harrington threw for 361 yards and two touchdowns for the Falcons, who fell to 0-and-3.  Carolina will host NFC South rival Tampa Bay next Sunday.
