Panthers Crumble After Strong Start
Posted by Matt Loede on September 17th, 2007 filed in OpinionsThe Panthers appeared well on their way to a 2-and-0 start Sunday. The Panthers led Houston 14-0 in the first quarter after two Steve Smith touchdown receptions. Then the wheels fell off for the Panthers, who allowed 34 unanswered points in a stunning 34-21 collapse at Bank of America Stadium. Fans lustily booed the Panthers, who were trying to open with back-to-back wins for the first time since 2003. Quarterback Jake Delhomme says the fans have the right to voice their displeasure, as the Panthers weren’t making plays after the strong start. Coach John Fox was disappointed as well, saying the Panthers need to improve in all areas. The Panthers will hit the road again next Sunday, when they visit NFC South rival Atlanta.
