The Panthers defeated the St. Louis Rams 27-13 in the season opener Sunday.  Jake Delhomme connected with Steve Smith for a 68-yard touchdown pass, and Drew Carter hauled in two touchdown receptions for the Panthers.  Carolina outscored St. Louis 13-0 in the fourth quarter.  Linebacker Dan Morgan played his first regular season game in a year and led the Panthers with seven tackles.  Morgan suffered a season-ending concussion in week one last year.  The Panthers held Rams running back Steven Jackson to 58 yards on 18 carries. Jackson also fumbled on back-to-back carries in the second half.  The Panthers will host Houston next Sunday.
