Panthers Have Much to Work On

For the second straight week, the Carolina Panthers starters were thoroughly outplayed in a 24-7 preseason loss to New England.  The first team has been outscored 48-10 in back-to-back losses to the Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles.  The New England offense was able to move virtually at will against the starting defense.  Quarterback Tom Brady completed 17-of-22 passes and had a pair of touchdown strikes.  The Pats also had a productive night running the ball.  Carolina could only muster 13 rushing yards in the first half. Quarterback Jake Delhomme did throw for 162 yards, including a 48-yard touchdown strike to Keary Colbert in the second quarter.  The Panthers will host Pittsburgh in their preseason finale Thursday night.
