Offense Clicking Under New Coordinator

Delhomme directs traffic

The Panthers offense passed its first preseason test under new offensive coordinator Jeff Davidson Saturday night.  The Panthers scored on their opening drive, and three different quarterbacks engineered touchdown drives in their 24-21 win over the New York Giants Saturday.  The running game was also in high gear, gaining 154 yards on the night.  DeShaun Foster, who rushed for 62 yards on five carries, says he is pleased with Davidson’s new system.  The Panthers will utilize more zone-blocking this season, which figures to play to the strengths of Foster and DeAngelo Williams.  The Panthers will practice at 9:10 in Spartanburg today.  The team cancelled its second practice.  Carolina will play its second preseason game Friday night at Philadelphia.
