Minter Announces Retirement

Minter says good-bye

Carolina Panthers safety Mike Minter announced his retirement Tuesday.  The 33-year-old Minter had previously announced plans to retire after the season, but he has been bothered by pain in his knees during training camp.  Minter has been the heart and soul of the Panthers defense since joining the team in 1997.  He is the leading tackler in team history and ranks second with 17 interceptions.  He also has four interception returns for touchdowns.  Minter had also been one of the team’s most durable players, having not missed a game since the 2001 season.
