DE Ball Looks for Opportunity

Even though he is entering his fourth NFL season, Dave Ball feels like a rookie again.  Ball is beginning his first season with the Carolina Panthers, and the defensive end is ready to showcase his skills in a 4-3 defense for the first time.  The 277-pound Ball spent his first three seasons with San Diego and the New York Jets and felt undersized while playing in a 3-4 scheme.  He says he is ready to take advantage of his new opportunity and hopes to Call Carolina home for awhile.  The former UCLA standout joked with reporters that although he hates cliches he “plans to play every play like it’s his last.”  Ball and the Panthers will practice twice today in Spartanburg, at 9:10 and 3:10.
