The Panthers bolstered their secondary by acquiring safety Chris Harris from the Chicago Bears for a fifth-round draft pick. Harris was a part-time starter for the Bears last season and started in the Super Bowl. He had 54 tackles and two interceptions last season. The Panthers also signed safety Jermaine Hardy on Thursday. Carolina has a need at safety after deciding not to re-sign Shaun Williams and Colin Branch in the offseason. The Panthers will practice twice in Spartanburg today, at 9:10 and 6:40. The team will then head back to Charlotte for a day. The Panthers will hold their annual Fan Fest Saturday morning at Bank of America Stadium.
