Panthers DE Julius is the life blood of the Panthers defense,Peppers and after seeing the Dwight Freeney and Cory Redding deals Peppers has got to be thinking about the future and the money that will come in following those deals. Peppers is sure to cash in on the fact that both Indy and Detroit paid huge money for their players. Peppers is under contract to the Panthers for another two seasons, but reports are already coming out that he and the team want to get something done so that he never reaches free agency.

Both Peppers’ agent, and the Panthers were waiting to find out just how much Freeney and Redding got in their new deals, and from the looks of it, Peppers is sure to be very happy and very rich. Freeney got $72 million from the Colts, while Redding got $49 million. Peppers is by most standards better than both those players, and means as much or more to the Panthers defense than Freeney or Redding.

There is little chance that Peppers gets a new deal done before the start of the season, but now that there are some numbers out there for other players, at least there is a gage that Peppers’ agent and Carolina can start looking at in gettting a new deal put together. Peppers is already making a boat load of cash this season, as he is making about $14 million, and is set to make $16.1 million next year, so the Panthers would be wise to get a new deal done with him as well to take some of the immense pressure off their salary cap.
