Fox Finds Himself on a List of Coaches on the Hot Seat

Panthers coach John Fox finds himself today on a list I bet Foxhe’d wish he would never be on – the list of coaches on the hot seat. Is that the case? Well, it is according to a new article on The site has come out with an article about coaches being on the hot seat for 2007, and sure enough, Fox makes the list. There is no question that Fox, coming off a subpar season, has been talked about in terms of a coach that could find himself fired sometime or after 2007. Below are the comments made by the site in regard to Fox and where he stands as the 2007 season gets closer.

John Fox, Carolina Panthers (2006 record: 8-8)

Fox is not one you would initially assume is in jeopardy. However, they are now four years removed from their Super Bowl appearance and followed up their NFC Championship loss in 2005 with an 8-8 record in 2006. While the defense excelled as usual, quarterback Jake Delhomme and the offense suffered and doomed their season.

The Panthers did little to beef up their squad via free agency in 2007, but did add some potential contributors on offense through the draft in wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett (Southern California) and center Ryan Kalil (Southern California). It will be up to Delhomme and Co. to get things back on track in 2007, and if they cannot, it could end up costing Fox his job.
