Darius and Panthers Talking – No Deal Yet

The Panthers are speaking to former Jags safety Donovan Daruis. The Gaston Gazette is reporting that the team has interest, but its not certain if they have made an offer to Darius. The Raiders as well as the Bills are two other teams that are interested in the safety.

Injuries could be an issue for the team that signs Darius, as they have to be prepared for him to still be less than 100 percent. Last season he broke his leg, and two seasons ago he tore his ACL. He has missed over 20 games in the past two seasons, which may scare a team away when it comes to giving Darius a large sum of money.

Right now though, the Panthers are in dire need of a safety, as they have Mike Minter, who is going to walk away after the 2007 season, and Nate Salley, who is a big unknown. The other player in the mix is journeyman Deke Cooper.
